About 18 months ago, while MTA was weighing options for Phase II of the Eastside extension, several Rosemead City Council members went to a meeting in South El Monte to lobby for consideration of an alternative that would run along the Pomona Freeway to the Montebello Mall. Other stops would potentially be at Garfield, Santa Anita, and Peck Road. In part due to that show of support, MTA has elevated this alternative as one of two still under consideration.

Hopefully, the new guys on the city council will continue this forward-looking participation. The Rosemead city website also has information on opportunities to participate in the first step in the environmental study process for these alternatives. There's a meeting tonight in South El Monte and one tomorrow in Montebello.
